About Tequila

Tequila is produced from the fermented heart of agave Azul, or blue agave plant. The heart is similar to a pineapple and is called mezcal, which means “House of the Moon” in Nahuatl.

The government agency that oversees tequila production, Consejo Regulador del Tequila (CTR), only permits blue agave to be grown for tequila in three Mexican states. The most important of these states is Jalisco, located on the pacific side of Mexico just northwest of Mexico City.

About Us

Agaves owner, Ana Plascencia, was born and raised in Arandas, Jalisco. For her, tequila from this region brings memories of home - of family, music, and Mexican culture. She moved to the U.S. 20 years ago and has worked in the liquor distribution industry for over 15 years. About 4 years ago, Ana started her own business.

She started by distributing her products from the trunk of her Camry. Through her personalized attention to her customers and excellent service, it wasn’t long before she had to buy a truck and procured a forklift to keep up with the demand.
